Knox invented the first back protector at the start of the 80's, then about a decade later introduced their first armored shirts. To say they have a lot of experience making the best armor and armored clothing is putting it mildly. Now with its third iteration the Knox Urbane Pro Mk3 Armored Shirt is designed to be worn on its own without any jacket. It may look light and it certainly is, but don't let that fool you it gave up safety features to do so. With an extensive combination of AA rated abrasion resistance and CE Level 2 low profile shoulder/elbows/back protectors, you get the whole package, no compromise. 

Note: This armored shirt fits snug. If you are on the upper end of a size or between sizes, we recommend you order the larger size.

• CE approved Class AA garment A CE Level AA rating, governed by the EN 17092-3:2020 standard, signifies that a garment is engineered to offer a high level of abrasion resistant protection suitable for a wide range of riding conditions, including touring and daily commuting. To achieve this classification, the materials in the most vulnerable areas of the garment, known as Zone 1 (typically shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees), undergo rigorous testing.
  The key test for abrasion resistance is performed on a specialized machine called the Darmstadt tester. In this test, a sample of the garment's material is subjected to a simulated slide on a concrete surface. For a garment to earn the AA rating, the material in Zone 1 must withstand a rotational speed of approximately 412.6 revolutions per minute (rpm) on the Darmstadt machine. This is designed to replicate a slide at a road speed of approximately 43mph (70 km/h). The material passes the test if it does not develop a hole larger than 5mm in any direction after the abrasion. This exacting standard ensures that the garment offers substantial protection against road rash in the event of a fall at typical road speeds. It is important to note that this abrasion test is just one component of the comprehensive testing required for certification. To earn the final rating, the garment must also pass rigorous standards for tear resistance, seam strength, the impact protection performance of the included armor and additional factors. under the CE standard EN17092
