The BILT LX-1 Mips Helmet uses a lightweight injection-molded ABS shell and Mips® safety system How does the Mips® safety system work? The brain is typically more sensitive to rotational motion than linear motion because it has shear properties similar to water or gel. When different parts of the brain move relative to each other because of rotational motion, the tissues can stretch, which can cause concussions or other brain injuries. Rotational motion is a common cause of concussions and more severe brain injury in oblique hits to the head. The Mips® safety system consists of a low friction layer mounted inside the helmet. In a crash, the low friction layer is designed to move slightly inside the helmet to help redirect forces away from the head. This is intended to help reduce the risk of brain injury. to provide you top notch safety. Max flow chin ventilation with roost filter combined with with multi-channeled EPS flows air throughout the helmet to keep your noggin cool. The removable liner and cheek pads are moisture-wicking and are uniquely engineered for comfort and airflow - keeping you cool and focused. The aero-tuned sun peak is fully removable, and the LX-1 is both DOT and ECE approved.

Safety:

• DOT and ECE 22.06 ECE 22.06 is a helmet safety rating that extends and increases the testing requirements of ECE 22.05 (with 22.05 being a more modern, more comprehensive European alternative to DOT). With 22.06, 12 additional impact points are analyzed (now totaling 18) and impact speed is increased (from 7.5 to 8.2 m/s).
